Walking the Wales Coast Path - Pembrokeshire -Pembroke Dock to Angle
Today I walked 14.5 miles from Pembroke Dock to Angle. I parked my car in Angle village, and caught the 9.31am bus to Pembroke Dock to start my walk back. The bus driver was really helpful, and actually drove me a little bit further than his designated route to drop me closer to the coastal path. I then began navigating the combination of fields and roads to get me to Pembroke Castle.
For the first 9 miles it rained, so I only have phone pictures from the day.
The coastal path does a good job of avoiding the roads, and the woods do a good job of hiding the industry. A little too good though, as I barely glimpsed the water until Angle finally came into view. It did start to feel monotonous after a while, and reminded me of Carmarthenshire in a lot of ways. However, it was a nicer section than I was expecting, and the last few miles to Angle were coastal again and very pretty.
There were 2 fields with cows on today’s walk. Something that doesn’t happen too often along the Pembrokeshire path. Unfortunately the second field of cows were very curious and despite me trying to give them a very wide berth, they had surrounded me by the time I reached the edge of the field. I ended up having to dive under the electric fence, and clamber through an overgrown ditch to get to the gate and to safety. By the far the scariest experience with cows I’ve had to date. Hopefully it is the last of it’s kind. I will definitely be trying to find ways to avoid cow fields from now on though.
Overall, it was a good walk, and the longest stretch i’ve done in Pembrokeshire. I only have 4 walks remaining now, and thankfully they are all shorter than today’s. Here is the map of my current progress….
