Walking the Wales Coast Path - Carmarthenshire - Burry Port to Gowerton
Before Christmas I was able to finish the Swansea and Gower section of the Wales Coast path, so once lockdown restrictions eased and I was able to resume my walks, I decided to start the Carmarthenshire section. I was able to get dropped off in Burry Port and walk to where the Carmarthenshire section meets the Gower section at Loughor and Gowerton.
I walked with a friend for the first 9 miles, of what was a 15 mile walk. Those miles went a lot quicker than the remaining 6. Itās always a lot easier when you have company to distract you!
The walk, although long, was relatively easy terrain wise. It was mostly footpath, along a cycle path, and then towards the end you have to walk through houses for a while to get back to Gowerton. At one point you have to cross a railway line (always a bit unnerving) and then walk through someoneās garden, which always feels a bit rude, even though you know you are allowed to be there.
The views along the walk over towards Gower were very lovely, and on this particular day the estuary was very picturesque. The ease of the path meant I could get a really good distance covered on this occasion, and Iām hopeful that I can get the rest of the Carmarthenshire section completed this year, and get myself another little badge to celebrate!
