Kindling in July
Kindling in July
It was so wonderful to be able to host our second ever Kindling event this July. We loved the first one we held in February, but since it was deepest darkest winter back then, it was very refreshing to host one in Summer and be able to really make the most of the amazing location of Beth's studio along the estuary.
Gather
As people arrived we enjoyed drinks and cake and getting to know all of the women attending. We had met some of the women before, but there were lots of new faces too, and given how much I hate small talk, the ease with which everyone chatted and made everyone feel welcome, was really lovely to see.
Create
We had the very talented Rosie Scribblah lead us in a "Drawing for the terrified" workshop. As someone who has never felt they could draw it was really refreshing to hear her approach to art and I know I for one thouroughly enjoyed her workshop and learnt so much.
Feast
Before the meal Beth took everyone for a tour of her land and shared some of the projects they do at group studios. Meanwhile I got the table set for our amazing three course meal that Elena from Ele's Little Kitchen had made for us. I am not exaggerating when I say it was some of the most delicious Spanish food I've ever tasted, and my Husband grew up in Spain so we've eaten our fair share of it.
I always love the meal portion of the day. Seeing a group of women who were laregely strangers at the beginning of the event talking and laughing together like they've always been friends is truly heartwarming and is a huge motivator for both Beth and myself in running these events.
We would love to host more Kindling events in the future, but we are unsure at this point if or when that will happen. It would help us so much in planning future events to hear from anyone who either has attended or would like to attend in future. We'd love to know what you like about it and what you'd change, what would make it more accessible, and what you'd hope to get out of it. Please don't hesitate to use the form below to let us know your thoughts, you can even keep it completely confidential if you'd like. And if you want to be the first to hear about future events then use the form at the bottom of this page to subscribe to my newsletter.
