Walking the Wales Coast Path - Pembrokeshire - St Justinians to St David's Head
On the 22nd March I made the most of the blue sky and sunshine, and ventured back to Pembrokeshire to walk some more of the Wales Coast Path. I picked up the path where I left off last time in St Justinians, and walked to Whitesands, and then round some of St David’s head, and then back to St Justinians again. It was a stunning 8.5 mile walk. I managed to utilise some of the footpaths on St David’s head to make a portion of the walk circular, and had intended to do the same when I got closer to St Justinains but I couldn’t resist going back on the coast path as it was just so pretty.
St Justinians to Whitesands
This stretch was a lovely way to start the walk, as the path was fairly flat and easy going, so I could just soak in the stunning views.
Whitesands to St David’s Head
The walk round from Whitesands to Prothmelgan was a bit more up and down, but still nice and easy going. Once I started walking up from there though, the terrain changed suddenly, and I found myself surrounded by rocks, and the walk became a bit more of a scramble. It was challenging in some parts, and the path wasn’t always obvious, but it was a really fun section to walk, and so different to other parts of the Pembrokeshire path I’ve walked before. The views once round the top were some of the most amazing I’ve seen and made me excited to walk the next section from Abereiddy back to here.
This is a section of the coastal path it is well worth exploring, and I will definitely be back.
If you are thinking of walking here, or anywhere on the coast path, I would definitely recommend investing in an OS map subscription. It was invaluable on this walk, and on so many of my walks, as it’s not always obvious where the path goes.
Here’s an updated map showing the sections of the Pembrokeshire coast path I have walked so far. Still a lot to go, but great seeing my progress.
