Places to visit in Ceredigion

We recently spent 3 wonderful days in Ceredigion, staying at the wonderful One Cat Farm. Given that the weather was a tad wintry for our visit (we actually had to dodge snow showers on one of the days) we ended up visiting a lot more places than we had planned, as it was too cold to stay too long in one place.

Here are some photos for each of the places we visited, hopefully giving you some inspiration for your own adventure in Ceredigion.

Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber

An impressive structure that’s been in place for over 5000 years. A very short walk from where you park, and easy to get to. Definitely worth a visit.

Cilgerran Castle

Aberaeron

Always love this little town. Still picture perfect, even when most things were closed due to government restrictions.

Cardigan

Mwnt

A national trust car park, and a very short walk down to the beach, makes Mwnt an easy beach option and well worth a visit.

Tresaith

A beach with a waterfall, what more could you want? Easy parking in the village, with an honesty box, and a short walk down to the beach. Scramble across the rocks to the left at low tide to see the waterfall.

Penbryn

Another national trust car park, and an amazing cafe in the car park that you just have to get some cakes from; so tasty. You can take the easy walk along the road to the beach, or follow the more scenic path through the woods, complete with stunning waterfall.

New Quay

We drove through New Quay hoping to park up and go for a stroll, but were too indecisive to choose a car park and ended up going straight through. We ended up parking up at a place called Llanina which had some ruins in the woods, and from there we managed to walk to a nice little beach with a view of New Quay, but it was far too cold to explore much further.

Cenarth Falls

A lucky find as a friend had been on holiday in Ceredigion the week before us and had visited here, so I added it to our list. It was a little disappointing that the boardwalk that goes alongside the river was closed for renovations, but otherwise still very impressive and pretty waterfalls.

Llanerchaeron

We made the most of our national trust membership and booked a visit to Llanerchaeron for the morning we left One Cat Farm. It’s only a few minutes down the road so seemed like the perfect time to visit. We had a lovely little walk around the beautiful grounds, and the children loved seeing all the farm animals. They also got to do an easter trail, complete with easter egg, which they loved.

We managed to fit so much into our short time in Ceredigion, and yet there are still so many more place I would have liked to visit. I will just have to save those for our next trip. If you are looking for inspiration for where to take a holiday in Wales then I know that you won’t be disappointed if you choose Ceredigion.
