Getting Outdoors - November

November was a busy month, which hindered to some extent how much we were able to get outdoors. Not to mention the added challenge of it being “No Spend November” and a rather damp month too.

We began the month in Scotland and travelled home via Edinburgh Zoo.

You can read more about those trips here;

As we travelled home from our holiday in Scotland we stopped off at Powis Castle for some lunch and so the children could stretch their legs. I had wanted to visit for sometime now but it’s that bit too far for a day trip and isn’t close to anywhere we often visit. So when I saw we’d be passing by there on our drive I just had to make the detour.

I had a friend visiting for a few days in November, and despite the very soggy weather we managed to get out and explore some favourite spots on Gower.

On this particular Saturday I was running my Photography Workshop at Rhossili. I was too busy helping everyone else to take any photos myself, and it wasn’t long before the heavens opened anyway and we were forced to seek refuge indoors and continue our learning from the comfort of a cafe.

A particularly rainy Sunday, so much so I couldn’t even bribe a single kid (or Husband) to venture outside with me. But once I was done trying to convince them I realised I would actually be able to go on my own, and that is a pretty wonderful treat to be honest.

If you haven’t explored the woods and the beach at Llanmadoc you really are missing out.

Some mid-week sunshine that I got to enjoy outdoors doing a photo shoot for a Mother and Daughter who have written a book together (you may have seen me post about it on my Instagram) Langland sure is pretty in the afternoon sun.

A rare sunny Saturday, which I got to enjoy about 90% outdoors. I spent the morning in Clyne Gardens doing Christmas mini Sessions but I couldn’t resist a wonder down to the sea front afterwards to take in the view.

I then got to spend the afternoon with my lovely family at Rhossili beach. It has become almost a tradition during No Spend November that we go to this wonderful (and free) beach and enjoy some glorious winter light.

Whilst the Husband and kids started their Christmas Shopping in Cardiff, I got to hang out in the woods at Castell Coch and take photos of this gorgeous pair for their Engagement Photo Shoot.

With a month that felt lacking in time spent outdoors I couldn’t resist the chance to go for a walk with my friend Nia. Despite a dry weather forecast it rained non-stop and I didn’t even get my camera out to take any photos, but we found a really lovely circular walk through both woods and beaches. Perks of living somewhere so beautiful!

I don’t have any photos but I do have this map of our route, should you care to try it yourself.

We finished off November with a visit to one of our favourite National Trust places; Dinefwr. Their Christmas Fair is a highlight of the festive season for us and it always get’s us feeling Christmassy. It doesn’t hurt that the grounds there are so beautiful.

A throwback to the Summer at Dinefwr because we were far too busy enjoying the fair to take any photos this visit!

Well that sums up our month of getting outdoors. I am hoping December drys up a little and we can get out and have some wintery adventures!
